Hm… that’s odd. I was certain that I replied again after I deleted my first reply, since I had something more to add.
Anyway, yes, from the first verse: “your job’s a joke, you’re broke”. So he doesn’t like his job, or his current life in general, and one morning he just can’t take it anymore and goes back to bed. Whether he burnt his breakfast before doing so or as a consequence of going back to bed is less clear, but also irrelevant.
The first line is about his life in general, and the second is about that day in particular. His mama told him there’d be days when he’d rather stay in bed than face the world.
Now your right! The first line talks about his whole life and the “mama” thing talks about this kind of day…
The thing about the “halo” is that it’s a condom. And it’s not his. So she cheated on him and he’s now gonna cheat on her.
The weird part is that Mark McGrath is going to use a used condom.

Satire and parody isn’t funny unless it’s intelligent and thought through. Otherwise you just make yourself look like an idiot. (See: all the stupid “theme movies” like Meet the Spartans.)
this was thought through. he took something well known and appreciated in todays society, and he made fun of it. thats what good comedy is. sometimes little things can be overlooked or not mentioned for the sake of joke.
If you overlook key details, it’s not thought through.
You’re supposed to make fun of other people’s mistakes, not make your own.

Well if you look that closely, pretty much every comedian (even George Carlin, Bill Hicks, and others that many people consider great) has horrible inaccuracies in their stories and routines. The guy’s telling a joke, not giving a serious commentary on society or culture. Just take it for what it is and laugh.
